I have lost my certificate of conformity: how do I get a duplicate?
The duplicate is obtained from the manufacturer, from the VIN, exactly like a first certificate for an imported vehicle. The manufacturer charges for it and is only obliged to supply it for ten years after manufacture. We file the request for you and deliver the digital copy, then the paper original if you wish.

The certificate of conformity is handed over only once, at the first sale of the new vehicle. If it was lost, mislaid by a previous owner or never passed on at a sale, there is no central register to retrieve it from: only the manufacturer can issue a duplicate, from its type-approval data.
What you should know:
- the duplicate is a paper document within the meaning of Article 36 of Regulation (EU) 2018/858; we send you its digital PDF copy first;
- it is chargeable: the manufacturer bills its homologation department, hence a price that varies by brand;
- it is only guaranteed for ten years after manufacture; beyond that, we check availability before charging you;
- it has the same value as the original: offices accept it in the same way.
Do you really need this duplicate? If the vehicle is already registered in your country, the registration certificate is enough to sell it; the certificate is only useful to a buyer who exports it.
