Is the VIN check really free?

Yes, with no account and no card. It also lets us rule out vehicles for which no certificate can be obtained: better to know before paying.

What do you do with my VIN?

It is stored encrypted to process your request and to improve our manufacturer lookup table. It is never resold, nor passed to any third party other than the manufacturer concerned by your order.

Does the result guarantee that the document will be issued?

Accepted Answer

No, and nobody can guarantee it before asking the manufacturer: the document is issued by them, not by us. The check identifies the make and shows our price. If the manufacturer cannot issue the document, the order is refunded in full.

Question 4

My VIN is not recognised — is that a problem?

Accepted Answer

No. Our table only covers prefixes we can attribute with certainty; we prefer a human check to a wrong answer. Write to us and you get an answer within one working day.

Question 5

Can I check the VIN of a motorcycle, a trailer or a motorhome?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Category L (two-wheelers), category O (trailers and caravans) and converted motorhomes also have a 17-character VIN. For a motorhome, the certificate is often issued by the converter rather than by the chassis manufacturer.
