Homologa

How it works: from VIN to certificate of conformity

You enter the VIN, we check for free that the manufacturer can issue the certificate, you order in four steps with price and lead time in front of you, we file the request with the homologation department, then you receive the digital copy by e-mail and the paper original if you chose it.

The four steps

  1. Step 1

    Check your VIN

Enter the 17 characters of the identification number. We identify the manufacturer, validate the format and show the price incl. VAT and the announced lead time for that brand. Free, no sign-up.

The VIN is in field E of the registration certificate. From its first three characters we identify the manufacturer and the market of manufacture; from the brand we show the price incl. VAT and the announced lead time. If the vehicle is probably over ten years old or comes from a non-EU market, we tell you at this stage.

  2. Step 2

    Order in four steps

Vehicle, options, details, payment. Price and estimated delivery date stay visible at every step. No option is pre-ticked, no account is required.

You give the brand, the VIN and the country of registration, then choose your options: tracked paper original, certificate translation (sworn translation on quotation), registration support. Your details are used for the invoice and, if you chose paper, for delivery. Payment is secure (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal). You receive the order number immediately.

  3. Step 3

We file the request with the manufacturer

On the working day of payment, after checking the VIN, we send the request to the homologation department of the manufacturer or its representative, then chase until the reply.

Each manufacturer has its portal, form or national importer: we know these channels for 85 brands. The lead time that runs from there is the manufacturer’s; we cannot shorten it, but we add nothing to it and we inform you of every step on the tracking page.

  4. Step 4

Receive the digital copy, then the original

On receipt of the certificate, its digital PDF copy is e-mailed to you and placed in your customer area. The paper original, if you chose it, leaves by tracked mail.

The digital copy is enough for the online ANTS procedure and for most European offices. The paper original is shipped with a tracking number to the address of your choice, in France and across the Union. If the announced lead time is exceeded, the lead-time guarantee applies without any action on your part.

What happens if the manufacturer cannot issue the certificate?

You are refunded in full. The VIN check rules out most impossible cases before payment; when the manufacturer refuses nonetheless (vehicle without EU type approval, archives unavailable), we explain why and refund the order, options included. We then point you to the manufacturer’s identification certificate or an individual approval.

Do you really need a certificate of conformity?

Not always. If your foreign registration document carries the EU type-approval number (field K) and the full type-variant-version (field D.2), the registration authority generally does not require the certificate. Look at those two fields before ordering; if in doubt, our detailed answer helps you decide, and our team answers for free.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the brand, because it reflects what the manufacturer charges: from €159 to €319 incl. VAT, digital copy included, across 85 brands. It appears as soon as you enter the VIN and does not change. The full price list is public.
