Why do you need a certificate of conformity for your Dacia?
If you bought your Dacia in another European Union country, the Dacia certificate of conformity is required to register it. It proves the vehicle conforms to the type approved by Dacia at European level.
We obtain it from Dacia and deliver it as a digital copy by e-mail, with the paper original by post on request.

Dacia is built in Romania and a large share of the imported Sandero and Duster models are fitted with LPG bi-fuel. That is the feature that shapes most of our Dacia files.
The distinction is essential: if the bi-fuel system was factory-fitted — the Eco-G versions — it appears on the certificate as a characteristic of the vehicle. If it was added afterwards by an installer, it does not, and the certificate will describe a petrol vehicle. The document remains valid, but it does not cover the conversion, which requires a separate attestation. Tell us which applies when you order: the two situations are not handled the same way at the registration desk.
The typical file is a Duster or Sandero bought in Romania, Germany or France, at a price that makes the customer attentive to the cost of the certificate. We therefore state the exact price before taking any step, with no added file fees. On a Dacia our first question concerns LPG: factory bi-fuel appears on the certificate, an installation added afterwards does not. The confusion is common and it changes how the file is presented at the counter. Second check: the two-seat commercial versions of the Duster and Logan, sold on some markets for tax reasons, whose category cannot be freely converted back at registration.
A Dacia certificate is usually issued by the manufacturer’s type-approval department, centrally for the whole of Europe.
Where to find the chassis number (VIN) on a Dacia
A certificate covers one vehicle only, identified by its chassis number (VIN). The safest place to read it is field E of the foreign registration document. On a Dacia, it also appears:
- at the base of the windscreen, driver’s side, readable from outside
- on the manufacturer’s plate on the driver’s door pillar
- stamped under the bonnet, on the front crossmember
- copied into the service book
A VIN never contains the letters I, O or Q: mistaking one for a 1 or a 0 is enough to send the search astray.

What to watch out for on an imported Dacia
LPG conversion or bi-fuel
A Dacia whose LPG system was fitted after the factory is not described as bi-fuel on its certificate. If the bi-fuel system was factory-fitted, it is. The two cases are not handled the same way, so please tell us which applies.
Equipment specific to the country of sale
A Dacia sold from Romania and from France does not always carry the same equipment or the same tyre sizes as elsewhere. The certificate reflects the vehicle’s actual configuration, not your local brochure.
“Company” derivative or car-derived van
Some Dacia vehicles were sold as stripped-out commercial versions for local tax reasons, notably from Romania and from France. The certificate then shows category N1 and a reduced number of seats, which cannot be freely converted back.
Dacia and the eCOC: what changes in 2026
Since 5 July 2026, Dacia has been sending conformity data for its new vehicles to the approval authorities in eCOC format. Your used Dacia is not affected: you need the ordinary COC, issued exactly as before. Paper and printouts of the eCOC remain accepted until 29 November 2026 at the latest. Understand the eCOC.
